3,000,000+ PTO Hours Exchanged
What does the future of work actually look like once the dust settles on the Great Resignation? In a wide-ranging interview with Authority Magazine, PTO Exchange CEO Rob Whalen shares his predictions, from how compensation and benefits will evolve, to what leaders need to get right if they want to retain talent long-term.
One theme runs through the conversation: benefits need to become more portable and individualized, following the same trajectory that took retirement savings from company-controlled pensions to portable, employee-owned 401(k)s. Whalen argues PTO is headed the same direction, becoming something employees own and can carry with them, rather than a policy tied entirely to a single employer.
He's also direct about what separates companies that will thrive from those that won't: leadership that treats employees as people first, shows up consistently, and builds benefits packages flexible enough to serve a genuinely diverse, multigenerational workforce, rather than defaulting to one-size-fits-all policies that quietly favor some employees over others.
